Chapter 11, Verse 29

यथा प्रदीप्तं ज्वलनं पतङ्गा विशन्ति नाशाय समृद्धवेगा: | तथैव नाशाय विशन्ति लोका- स्तवापि वक्त्राणि समृद्धवेगा: ॥29॥
yathā pradīptaṃ jvalanaṃ pataṅgā viśanti nāśāya samṛddhavegāḥ | tathaiva nāśāya viśanti lokās-tavāpi vaktrāṇi samṛddhavegāḥ ||
"As moths enter with increased haste into a glowing fire for destruction, in that very way do the creatures enter into Your mouths too, with increased hurry for destruction."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 11.29 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

Arjuna witnesses the terrifying aspect of the Vishwaroop (Universal Form) where all beings are rushing toward their end. The verse employs the 'Pataṅgā-Vahni' (Moth-Fire) analogy. Just as moths are irresistibly drawn to a flame only to be incinerated, beings—whether noble or ignoble—are being pulled by the momentum of Time (Kala) into the all-consuming mouth of the Divine. This illustrates the inevitability of death and the unconscious rush of humanity toward its own dissolution.
