Chapter 11, Verse 41

सखेति मत्वा प्रसभं यदुक्तं हे कृष्ण हे यादव हे सखेति | अजानता महिमानं तवेदं मया प्रमादात्प्रणयेन वापि ॥ 41 ॥
sakheti matvā prasabhaṁ yad uktaṁ he kṛṣṇa he yādava he sakheti | ajānatā mahimānaṁ tavedaṁ mayā pramādāt praṇayena vāpi || 41 ||
"Thinking of You as a friend, I have rashly addressed You as 'O Krishna,' 'O Yadava,' 'O friend,' and so on, not knowing Your greatness, out of inadvertence or even out of intimacy."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 11.41 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

In this verse, Arjuna experiences a profound shift in perspective. After witnessing the Vishwarupa (Universal Form), he is overwhelmed by the realization that his close friend and cousin, Krishna, is actually the Supreme Divine Reality. He feels a sense of 'regretful love'—regretting his past casualness while acknowledging the deep intimacy (pranaya) that caused it. This highlights the 'Sakhya-Bhava' (friendship with the divine), where the intensity of love can sometimes veil the awe of majesty. Arjuna seeks forgiveness for his 'pramada' (carelessness/inadvertence) in treating the Infinite as finite.
