अथैतदप्यशक्तोऽसि कर्तुं मद्योगमाश्रित: | सर्वकर्मफलत्यागं तत: कुरु यतात्मवान् ॥11॥
athaitad-apya-śakto 'si kartuṃ mad-yogam āśritaḥ | sarva-karma-phala-tyāgaṃ tataḥ kuru yatātmavān ||
"If you are unable to do even this, in that case, having resorted to the Yoga for Me, thereafter renounce the results of all works by becoming controlled in mind."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 12.11 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

Lord Krishna provides a hierarchical approach to spiritual evolution. For those who cannot fix their mind steadily on the Formless or even on His Personal Form through constant practice (Abhyasa) or dedicated service (Mad-artham), He offers a fourth, very practical alternative: Karma Phala Tyaga. This involves performing one's duties in the world but consciously detaching from the anxiety of the results. By being 'Yatatmavan' (self-controlled), one prevents the mind from being agitated by success or failure. This practice purifies the heart, reduces the ego, and gradually elevates the seeker from the lower modes of Rajas (passion) and Tamas (ignorance) to Sattva (goodness), eventually making the higher forms of meditation possible.
