Chapter 16, Verse 5

दैवी सम्पद्विमोक्षाय निबन्धायासुरी मता | मा शुच: सम्पदं दैवीमभिजातोऽसि पाण्डव ॥5॥
daivī sampad vimokṣhāya nibandhāyāsurī matā | mā śhuchaḥ sampadaṁ daivīm abhijāto ’si pāṇḍava
"The divine nature is for liberation, the demoniacal is considered to be for inevitable bondage. Do not grieve, O son of Pandu! You are destined to have the divine nature."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 16.5 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

In this pivotal verse, Lord Krishna clarifies the ultimate destination of the two paths. 'Daivi Sampad' (Divine assets) act as a catalyst for 'Vimoksha' (liberation from the cycle of birth and death), while 'Asuri Sampad' (Demoniac assets) result in 'Nibandha' (karmic bondage). Krishna provides immediate psychological relief to Arjuna by assuring him that his inherent nature is divine, thereby dispelling his fear that fighting the war might stem from a demoniac disposition. This highlights the importance of 'Svadharma' and the intrinsic quality of the soul's character.
