Chapter 18, Verse 58

मच्चित्त: सर्वदुर्गाणि मत्प्रसादात्तरिष्यसि | अथ चेत्वमहङ्कारान्न श्रोष्यसि विनङ्क्ष्यसि ॥58॥
mac-cittaḥ sarva-durgāṇi mat-prasādāt tariṣyasi | atha cet tvam ahaṅkārān na śroṣyasi vinaṅkṣyasi ॥58॥
"Having your mind fixed on Me, you will cross over all difficulties through My grace. If, on the other hand, you do not listen out of egotism, you will get destroyed."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 18.58 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

Lord Krishna provides a conditional promise. The term 'Mac-cittaḥ' implies a consciousness absorbed in the Divine. 'Sarva-durgāṇi' refers to the impenetrable forts of material obstacles and karmic bondages. The verse highlights that success is not merely a product of personal effort but of 'Mat-prasādāt' (Divine Grace). Conversely, 'Ahaṅkāra' (false ego) acts as a barrier to listening (śroṣyasi), leading to spiritual and personal failure (vinaṅkṣyasi).
