Chapter 18, Verse 62

तमेव शरणं गच्छ सर्वभावेन भारत | तत्प्रसादात्परां शान्तिं स्थानं प्राप्स्यसि शाश्वतम् ॥62॥
tam eva śaraṇaṁ gaccha sarva-bhāvena bhārata tat-prasādāt parāṁ śāntiṁ sthānaṁ prāpsyasi śāśvatam
"Take refuge in Him alone with your whole being, O scion of the Bharata dynasty. Through His grace you will attain the supreme Peace and the eternal Abode."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 18.62 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

This pivotal verse emphasizes 'Sharanagati' or complete surrender. Shri Krishna instructs Arjuna to seek shelter in the Divine with 'Sarva-bhavena'—meaning with every fiber of one's heart, mind, and soul. The verse establishes that while self-effort is necessary, it is the 'Prasada' (Grace) of the Divine that ultimately grants 'Param Shantim' (Supreme Peace) and the 'Shashvatam Sthanam' (Eternal Abode). The explanation highlights six facets of surrender: aligning one's will with the divine, avoiding resistance to the divine will, firm faith in protection, gratitude, renouncing proprietorship, and maintaining humility.
