"Either by being killed you will attain heaven, or by winning you will enjoy the earth. Therefore, O Arjuna, rise up with determination for fighting."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 2.37 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

Lord Krishna presents a logical 'win-win' proposition to Arjuna based on the principles of Dharma. He explains that for a warrior (Kshatriya), performing one's duty in a righteous war leads to a glorious outcome regardless of the physical result. If Arjuna dies in battle, he attains the celestial realms (Svarga) as a reward for his sacrifice. If he wins, he gains sovereignty over the earth. Thus, Krishna urges Arjuna to cast aside his indecision and 'rise' (Uttiṣṭha) with a firm resolve (Kṛta-niścayaḥ).
