Chapter 4, Verse 2

एवं परम्पराप्राप्तमिमं राजर्षयो विदु: | स कालेनेह महता योगो नष्ट: परन्तप ॥ 2 ॥
evaṁ paramparā-prāptam imaṁ rājarṣayo viduḥ | sa kāleneha mahatā yogo naṣṭaḥ parantapa ||
"This supreme science was thus received through the chain of disciplic succession, and the saintly kings understood it in that way. But in course of time the succession was broken, and therefore the science as it is appears to be lost."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 4.2 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

Lord Krishna emphasizes the importance of 'Parampara'—the unbroken chain of teacher and student. Divine knowledge is not discovered through independent logic but is received through a descending process. The 'Rajarshis' (saintly kings) managed the world using this spiritual wisdom. However, because material nature tends toward decay and insincere interpretations often cloud the truth, the purity of this Yoga becomes 'lost' to the world over time, requiring the Divine to intervene and re-establish the lineage.
