Detailed Meaning

This verse concludes the discussion on the fate of the 'Yoga-bhrashta' (the fallen yogi). Krishna explains that spiritual progress is cumulative. The yogi uses the momentum of past lives to strive even harder in the present (prayatnād). The phrase 'aneka-janma-saṁsiddhaḥ' offers the profound comfort that no spiritual effort is ever wasted; perfection is a result of the refined practice across many lifetimes. By washing away mental taints (kilbiṣaḥ), the seeker eventually reaches the ultimate destination (parāṁ gatim).
