Chapter 9, Verse 31

क्षिप्रं भवति धर्मात्मा शश्वच्छान्तिं निगच्छति | कौन्तेय प्रतिजानीहि न मे भक्त: प्रणश्यति ॥31॥
kṣipraṁ bhavati dharmātmā śaśvach-chāntiṁ nigachchhati | kaunteya pratijānīhi na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati
"He soon becomes possessed of a virtuous mind; he attains everlasting peace. O son of Kunti, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 9.31 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

This verse emphasizes the transformative power of exclusive devotion. Krishna explains that even if a person has lived unrighteously, a firm resolve toward God purifies the mind rapidly (kṣipraṁ). Since God is all-pure, attaching the mind to Him naturally washes away character blemishes that cannot be removed by mere willpower. Furthermore, Krishna asks Arjuna to make this declaration because the Lord is known to break His own vows to protect the vows of His devotees, ensuring that Arjuna's proclamation remains an eternal truth: a devotee shall never be ruined.
