Chapter 14, Verse 3

मम योनिर्महद् ब्रह्म तस्मिन्गर्भं दधाम्यहम् | सम्भव: सर्वभूतनां ततो भवति भारत ॥3॥
mama yonir mahad brahma tasmin garbhaṁ dadhāmy aham | sambhavaḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ tato bhavati bhārata
"My womb is the great-nature (Mahad Brahma). In that I place the seed. From that, O scion of the Bharata dynasty, occurs the birth of all living beings."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 14.3 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

In this verse, Krishna explains the mechanics of creation using a profound metaphor of parenthood. 'Mahad Brahma' here refers to Mula-Prakriti (primordial material energy), not the deity Brahma. Prakriti is the 'Yoni' (the womb or the source), which provides the material body. The Supreme Lord is the 'Bijaprada Pita' (the seed-giving father) who impregnates this material energy with individual souls (Jivas) based on their past karmas. This interaction between the Conscious Spirit (Purusha) and Insentient Matter (Prakriti) results in the manifestation of all life forms. This clarifies that life is not merely a biological accident but a divine infusion of consciousness into matter.
