Chapter 14, Verse 6

तत्र सत्वं निर्मलत्वात्प्रकाशकमनामयम् | सुखसङ्गेन बध्नाति ज्ञानसङ्गेन चानघ ॥6॥
tatra sattvaṃ nirmalatvāt prakāśakam anāmayam | sukha-saṅgena badhnāti jñāna-saṅgena cānagha ||
"Among these, the mode of goodness (Sattva), being pure, is illuminating and free from distress. It binds the soul, O sinless one, by attachment to happiness and attachment to knowledge."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 14.6 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

Sattva-guna is characterized by its transparency and purity (nirmalatvāt), which allows the light of consciousness to shine through clearly, leading to wisdom (prakāśakam) and a sense of well-being (anāmayam). However, Krishna warns Arjuna (Anagha) that even this 'noble' mode is a form of bondage. It creates a 'golden chain' where the soul identifies with its intellectual achievements and its state of peace, making it dependent on these external or mental conditions for its identity, thus preventing it from reaching the purely transcendental state (Shuddha Sattva).
