Key Insight:

Detailed Meaning

This verse describes the psychological framework of individuals with 'asuric' or demoniac tendencies. They are driven by 'kāma' (desire) that is 'duṣpūram' (impossible to satisfy). Their inner state is characterized by hypocrisy (dambha), egoistic pride (māna), and the intoxication of power (mada). Because of delusion (moha), they grasp onto false values (asad-grāhān) and commit themselves to 'aśuci-vratāḥ'—impure vows or unholy practices—believing that material gratification is the ultimate goal of life.
