Chapter 9, Verse 5

न च मत्स्थानि भूतानि पश्य मे योगमैश्वरम् | भूतभृन्न च भूतस्थो ममात्मा भूतभावन: ॥5॥
na ca mat-sthāni bhūtāni paśya me yogam aiśvaram | bhūta-bhṛn na ca bhūta-stho mamātmā bhūta-bhāvanaḥ
"Nor do the beings dwell in Me. Behold My Divine Yoga! I am the sustainer and originator of beings, but My Self is not contained in the beings."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 9.5 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

This verse presents a divine paradox to illustrate God's relationship with the material world. While verse 4 stated that all beings dwell in Him, verse 5 clarifies that they do not dwell in Him in a physical or contingent way that limits Him. Through His 'Yogmaya' shakti, Krishna performs the 'impossible': He is the Bhūtabhṛt (Sustainer) and Bhūtabhāvanaḥ (Originator), yet He remains Bhūtastho (not situated in or dependent on them). Like the concept of 'Daśhāṅgulī,' He pervades the universe but remains 'ten fingers' beyond it, untouched by material modifications or decay.
