Chapter 9, Verse 8

प्रकृतिं स्वामवष्टभ्य विसृजामि पुन: पुन: | भूतग्राममिमं कृत्स्नमवशं प्रकृतेर्वशात् ॥8॥
prakṛtiṁ svām avaṣṭabhya visṛjāmi punaḥ punaḥ | bhūta-grāmam imaṁ kṛtsnam avaśaṁ prakṛter vaśāt ||
"Presiding over My own material nature, I generate again and again this entire multitude of beings, who are powerless under the influence of their own natures (Gunas)."
Key Insight:
The Bhagavad Gita teaches us through 9.8 that true peace is found when we align our actions with Dharma.

Detailed Meaning

Lord Krishna explains the mechanism of cosmic manifestation. By presiding over His material energy (Prakriti), He initiates the cyclical process of creation. The term 'avasam' (powerless/helpless) is crucial; it indicates that conditioned souls are bound by their past karmas and the three modes of nature (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas). When the universe is re-manifested after a period of dissolution (pralaya), souls are projected back into the material world according to the 'causal bodies' they carry, illustrating the law of karma and the cyclicality of time (Kalpas).
